Stena Drilling select AutoLoad (10/06-2011)

Stena Drilling Limited of Aberdeen, a wholly owned subsidiary of Stena AB, Gothenburg, Sweden have ordered AutoLoad for use on their semi-submersible rigs - Stena Spey and Stena Clyde

Coastdesign Norway has taken advantage of the increasing number of specialised wind turbine installation vessels being built and operated, by securing Autoload orders from Fred.Olsen Windcarrier AS and Hochtief Construction. The vessels are used in the construction and maintenance of wind turbine farms. Autoload onboard stability software has been selected by these companies because, in addition to having a robust hydrostatics engine that takes care of all the standard stability analysis and reports required for classification, Autoload’s specialised 3D cargo planning, deck crane modules and jack-up features are especially useful and important for this new breed of vessel.

The Paris Memorandum on Port State Control which will start a concentrated inspection campaign on the 1st September through to the 30th November 2010 to verify that tanker operators are complying with damage stability regulations has brought a surge of orders and enquiries for our 3D based onboard loading computer Autoload.

Bulk Stowage Planning

Autoload SPS Bulk is a state-of-the-art, integrated, graphical, stowage planning and strength calculation for cargo officers. As a voyage-based program, Autload SPS Bulk provides control over ship loading throuhout the complete voyage.

Autoload SPS Bulk has two main modes: hold mode, and a hydrostatics engine mode.

Hold Mode - and Cargo Loading

The Hold Mode interface includes the Cargo Line Up window, the Stowage window (a complete profile of all holds), and the Hold window (a detailed view of any selected hold). Ports of call are shown along the bottom of the screen. Commodity and port databases are easily edited by the program user. A real-time summary of key hydrostatic values can be displayed on the screen.

Loading is accomplished by selecting cargo in the cargo list and dragging it to a hold/hatch. The program uses cargo properties, including angle of repose and stowage factor, to form the cargo pile. User-definable stowage options include trimmed surface, and the choice between pile-centering in either the center of the hatch, or spread across the hatch area. The 3-D Viewer shows, in detail, either a single hold or all holds together. At a given port of call, the loading condition can be instantly changed from Arrival to Departure.

Hydrostatics Module

Autoload SPS Bulk includes a DNV and Lloyds -approved hydrostatic engine, which enables trim, stability and strenght assessment for any loading condition whether in port or ar sea. The main window shows profile, plan, and body views of the ship in the loaded condition, as well as calculated hydrostatic values. The Hydrostatics module calculates stability as fuel and consumables are used, makes use of optimal ballast, and evaluates strength and satbility uin intact, damaged or grounded conditions. The program can compare observed displacement, obtained from draft surveys, against the simulated condition. The calculated vessel condition is also compared against preset strength and stability limits. Local strength and grain stability calculations are also available.

Onboard installations of Autoload SPS Bulk can include an interface with tank and draft sensors. This interface allows real time monitoring of tank loading and drafts. Sensor connections can be taken offline in case of reading errors, or if the program operator wishes to simulate "what-if" scenarios.

Reports

Cargo reports include stowage plan (either for an individual hold or all holds), cargo summary, and loading sequence. Loading sequence reports include vessel load/unload sequences and terminal unloading sequence. The hydrostatics reports include loading summary, longitudinal strength and stability data. Reports can be customized to the user's specific requirements. All reports can be printed or exported to standard word processing and spreadsheet programs, and then distributed electronically or printed.
